Information For New Patients
Your first visit:
During the initial appointment, we will take a thorough health history. This helps us to determine the problem areas to examine rather than focusing on just the symptoms.
Once the health history has been completed, Dr. Archer will perform an examination. She will check your spine, posture, body alignment and how you move around. The doctor will perform a number of specialized tests to determine what areas are affected and to what extent. She may examine several areas depending on your specific complaints and what was revealed during the history taking portion of the appointment.
Dr. Archer does not believe in taking routine x-rays on every patient. She may determine your specific condition requires x-rays be taken to help rule out more serious conditions or assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you.
Once the health history, examination and all appropriate studies have been completed, you will generally be provided with your first chiropractic treatment. This may include spinal adjustments, extremity adjustments, and/or physical therapy procedures (rehab therapy) to make you feel more comfortable.
Following treatment you will be given home-care advice which may include the use of ice, heat, stretching and /or exercises to help relieve pain and speed healing.
Before leaving you will be asked to schedule a follow-up appointment, usually within 1-2 days. During this second visit, you will be provided with a complete report of findings and Dr. Archer will explain what she found during your initial visit, and her recommendations on what type of treatment will bring you back to health.
